Saturday, March 14 from 8am - 8pm
St. Mary's Parish Hall
Using Leanna Crawford’s song “Still Water” (Psalm 23) as a theme, St. Mary’s WATCH team invites you to attend the Igniting the Flame one day retreat on Saturday, March 14. The retreat will be filled with prayer, presentations, Adoration, fellowship and more, as we open our minds and hearts to letting Jesus lead us to still waters. Is the Lord leading you to make this retreat a part of your 2026 Lenten preparation? If so, contact Linda Rhodes at 815-848-2506 for more information or to register. A free-will offering will be taken to cover the cost of meals and snacks.
The first line of the song reads: “Great Aunt Maurine said at 103, write scripture on your heart for when you need it. ‘Cause anxiety hates Psalm 23”. The retreat team invites you to bring all your anxieties and give them to The Good Shepherd.
“So just say it to yourself ‘til you believe it. And I’m feeling like I’m needing it right now”. Are you needing a little help to strengthen your belief? Come find it at the retreat. “The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall need. “I know by your still waters I’m safe Lord, I believe you can set me at ease.” We will have time to be still and at ease with Jesus as we attend Adoration. He leads me to still waters.
“He leads me by still waters ‘til my fears are gone. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.” The retreat is a time to walk away from all the troubles of the world for a day. Time to focus solely on Christ’s love for us. I will fear no evil, for you are at my side, with your rod and your staff that comfort me.
“Turn this broken piece in me, to peace and quiet.” There will be time for the Lord to mend our broken pieces and bring us peace, through the sacrament of Reconciliation. He restores my soul, guiding me in paths of righteousness so that his name may be glorified.
“I know there’s power in Your word.” We will hear powerful words in Scripture readings, prayers, and presentations. You spread a table for me in the presence of my foes. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
“Your word has been there in every season of my life. I believe, yes, I believe.” The retreat will bring us to still waters, no matter what season of life we are in, young adult, middle-age, or 103 like Aunt Maurine! Only goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life.
“Oh, I know you are with me, Father, my friend”. Bring a friend, make new friends! Enjoy fellowship with others, as we look forward to Christ’s resurrection. And our own. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever.
